BOISE, IDAHO- There would be no epic comeback on Thursday as Boise State got hot in the second half en route to a 87-59 victory on Thursday night at Taco Bell Arena.
Jessica Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) led all scorers with 26 and moved into 9
th place on SFU's all-time scoring list but it woudn't be enough on Thursday night. The win dropped SFU to 5-7 on the year while Boise State improved to 6-5. The five wins during the non-conference matches a program best.
FIRST QUARTER RECAP
- Both teams showed the effects of playing the night before, with the first eight shots missed
- A Karson Swogger (Bellwood, PA/Bellwood-Antis) three put SFU up 3-2 two and a half minutes in
- The Broncos answered with seven-straight points to lead 9-3
- Jumpers by Kyasia Duling (Zanesville, Ohio/New Albany (Duquesne)) and Ace Harrison (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor (Maryland)) stopped the run and a steal and score by Leah Morrow (Columbus, Ohio/Columbus Africentric) capped a 6-0 SFU run to give them back the lead
- Kovatch's lone three of the first half followed to give SFU a 12-9 advantage
- The Red Flash led 12-11 after the first quarter
SECOND QUARTER RECAP
- Five-straight points from Harrison erased an early Bronco run and tied the game at 17
- Swogger's second three of the half gave SFU back the lead at 20-19
- The Red Flash went scoreless for nearly four minutes while Boise State ran off an 11-0 run
- A Kovatch steal and score ended the run and a late lay-up by Morrow cut the Boise lead to 11
- The Broncos earned a 24-12 edge in the second quarter and led 35-24 at the half
THIRD QUARTER RECAP
- The teams traded baskets with the Boise lead hovering around 15
- A Kovatch three brought the lead back down to 12 at 46-34
- The Broncos would start to pull away with a 6-0 run that brough the lead out to 20
- Jessica Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) hit her last four shots to keep pace with the hot shooting Broncos
- Boise shot 65 percent in the quarter and lead 65-44 after three
FOURTH QUARTER RECAP
- The Broncos hot shooting continued into the fourth as they hit threes on their first three possessions
- Kovatch kept her hot shooting going with a deep three and a steal and score that immediately followed
- Boise had an answer for every SFU basket with one of their own, preventing any sort of comeback on Thursday
- The Broncos hit 8 of 13 threes in the second half en route to the victory

- The Red Flash were out rebounded 58-27 and outscored 21-2 on second-chance points
- Boise State placed five players in double figures led by Riley Lupfer's 18
- Saint Francis was just 7-32 from three, while Boise got hot in the second half, hitting 8 of 13 from three and 12-27 for the game
