TEANECK, NJ- Saint Francis women's basketball will look to finish off a sweep of the opening NEC weekend as they take on the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights at 2 pm on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Flash are looking for their first 2-0 start in Northeast Conference play since the 2012-13 season when they started 4-0 en route to a spot in the NEC title game. Saint Francis has had decent success inside Stratis Arena, going 16-13 at Fairleigh Dickinson in a rivalry that goes all the way back to the 1985-86 season. SFU knocked off the Knights 82-79 last season in the opening game of the Northeast Conference season for both teams.

ABOUT THE RED FLASH
Saint Francis is coming off an impressive 89-48 win at Sacred Heart on Friday afternoon. The Red Flash shot a white-hot 75 percent in the second half including 82 percent (13-16) in the third quarter to pull away. Jessica Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) led the way with 31 points on an impressive 12-17 shooting that included 5-7 from three. The junior moved into eighth place on the all-time SFU scoring list during the contest. SFU shared the basketball beautifully, dishing out 20 assists on 37 baskets and outscored the Pioneers 17-4 on the fast break and 43-18 in the paint. They'll continue to look for high-percentage shots against a FDU defense that came into the weekend allowing the second-fewest points in the NEC at just under 61.  In addition to the lights out shooting, the Red Flash defense forced 22 turnovers, nine more than Sacred Heart's season average and held the Pioneers to just 24 percent shooting on the day. They'll try to continue that trend against a Knights squad that has turned it over an average of 18 times per game, including 18 against Robert Morris on Friday.

ABOUT THE KNIGHTS
Fairleigh Dickinson was picked seventh in the NEC pre-season poll but rolled out an impressive 8-3 mark in non-conference play. They dropped a 77-68 decision to Robert Morris at home on Friday. The Knights came into the weekend shooting a NEC-best 43 percent from the field as a team but were held to just 32 percent shooting in the loss. SFU will also have to watch for the Knights' strong three-point shooting, they've hit on 36 percent from three this season. Madelynn Comly and Kamrin Weimer lead the NEC in three-point shooting, hitting on over 44 percent of their tries. Weimer was 4-7 on Friday and led the team with 18 points in the loss. In addition to the sharp-shooting guards, Amina Markovic is averaging nearly 12 points per game on the block, she went for 32 in the loss to SFU on opening weekend last year. The Red Flash will try to keep FDU under the magic number of 70, the Knights are 4-0 when scoring and 5-1 when FDU holds its opponent under 60.
