Series History
Tuesday will serve as the first meeting between the programs.
Red Flash vs. Top-Ranked Opponent
Saint Francis will face the No. 1 ranked team in the AP Coaches' Poll for just the second time in school history. The only other time it happened was on Jan. 24, 1974, 78-58 defeat to Notre Dame. NBA Hall of Famer Adrian Dantley scored a game-high 22 points. Rick Hockenos led the Red Flash with 14 points.
MAKE IT RAIN
While junior guard
Andre Wolford (Willowick, Ohio/Saint Ignatius) stole the show on Saturday night with eight three-pointers on 11 attempts, one shy of the single-game school record, the rest of the team also shot lights out from three-point range. As a team, Saint Francis went 15-of-24 from behind the arc (62.5%), its most three-point field goals vs. a Division I opponent in a decade. A season-high seven different players knocked down at least one three. The Red Flash have made 35 three-pointers in its last three games (11.7 per game).
PROTECT THE RIM
A big key for this Saint Francis team is its ability to rebound and defend the rim. Saint Francis is 0-3 when outrebounded and 0-3 when outscored in the paint. Protecting the rim was a critical part of SFU's demise on Saturday night as Stony Brook scored 50 points in the paint and shot 65.7% from the field in the second half.
TURNOVER TROUBLE
A strength of this Red Flash team is its guard play and ability to take care of the basketball. The Red Flash will be looking to get back to its basics at Duke on Tuesday as it has committed at least 18 turnovers in each of its last three contests after averaging just 10.5 per game through the first four games of the season. Turnovers sparked the Seawolves' comeback on Saturday as the Red Flash yielded a season-worst 23 points off turnovers.
