LORETTO, PA-Â The Red Flash welcome in the Youngstown State Penguins on Saturday afternoon in the final home game of the 2017 calendar season for Saint Francis women's basketball.
Tip time is set for 2 p.m. from DeGol Arena as both teams look to snap their respective losing streaks. SFU has dropped their last three while the Penguins are 0 for their last four.Â
ABOUT THE RED FLASH
- Caitlyn Kroll (Bridgeport, Ohio/Bridgeport) once again reset her career high with 23 points in Wednesday's set back at Columbia. The redshirt freshman had 23 points, three assists and three steals for the Red Flash, who dropped to 3-5 after a 94-81 setback.
- The Lions get red-hot in the second half, shooting over 60 percent and put the game out of reach with a 12-2 third-quarter run.
- Jessica Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg)Â finished with 18 points but was just 2-11 from three.
- The Red Flash shot 43 percent from the field for the game, despite going just 6-30 from deep. They will look to heat up against a YSU team that has allowed teams to shoot 37 percent from deep this season.
- The Flash will also look to get back to their winning ways in DeGol Arena. Dating back to last season, the Red Flash have lost three of their last four at home. Youngstown State has won just two road games dating back to last season.Â
- Saturday's game will be the last home game in 2017 for the Red Flash. They will head to the west coast to close out the non-con and open NEC play at Sacred Heart and FDU
- SFU will next be at home January 6th and 8th against the Brooklyn schools.
ABOUT THE PENGUINS
- The Penguins were picked to finish eighth in the Horizon League this year
- Three players average in double figures, led by Indiya Benjamin who had 25 in their loss to Akron and had 21 last year against SFU
- YSU will let it fly from three, like the Red Flash they average about 9 made threes per game
- The Red Flash will look to limit the Penguins to just one shot a possession, YSU has grabbed just 31 rebounds per game this year
- The Penguins have been out rebounded by 10 or more in three of their last four
- The Red Flash will try to pressure YSU, who has averaged just 14 turnovers per game, forcing 14
SERIES HISTORY
- This will be the fifth meeting all-time between the teams, but just the second in Loretto
- The teams are tied 2-2 after a 69-68 YSU win last year in Youngstown
- Two games have been decided by a point and a third went into overtime in this series
- SFU won the lone game in DeGol 94-58 in December of 2009
