LORETTO, PA- Saint Francis welcomes in the Wagner Seahawks to DeGol Arena on Monday night to wrap up the NEC home weekend.
ABOUT THE FLASH
Saint Francis is looking to rebound on Monday following a tough 66-58 setback against Mount St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon. The 58 points were a season low for Saint Francis as were the four made three pointers. The Mountaineers held the Red Flash to just 4-30 shooting from three (13 percent). In spite of the cold shooting, SFU found itself in a 50-50 tie in the fourth quarter. But the Flash started the frame 0-7 from the field and 2-12 for the quarter as the Mount outscored SFU 18-10 in the final quarter.
Jessica Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) led the Red Flash with 22 points while
Courtney Zezza (Plum, Pa./Plum) added 10 points and tied a career and season high with eight blocks. It was the eighth time this season Zezza has had at least five blocks in a game. As a team, SFU sits behind only Baylor in total blocks and blocks per game. The Red Flash forced 27 turnovers but managed only 18 points off the miscues. They also had an uncharacteristic 24 turnovers, six more than their season average and the most since their 24 turnovers in their win at Robert Morris. The team will look to get their transition game going against the Seahawks who average 20 turnovers per game. SFU forced 23 turnovers, leading to 26 points in SFU's win over Wagner back in January.Â
ABOUT THE SEAHAWKS
The Seahawks come into the game at 3-21 overall and 2-11 in the NEC. The Seahawks defeated SFBK and FDU for their first two NEC victories but have dropped two straight since the victories including a 74-41 setback at RMU on Saturday. Wagner is led by freshman Kerstie Phills who recorded her third double double of the year Saturday with a 13-13 effort. She leads the Seahawks at nearly 13 points per game. Tanasia Russell had 14 points and 10 rebounds against the Red Flash in January. Kellie Crouch is the Wagner sharpshooter, hitting a team best 38 percent of her threes, as a team, Wagner is shooting 30 percent from deep and 37 percent overall. The Flash held Wagner to just 34 percent shooting in January but Wagner didn't help their own cause, going 8-21 from the foul line.Â
