SFU Heads To Bryant To Tip Off Road Weekend

LIVE STATS | LIVE VIDEO (NEC FRONT ROW)| SFU GAME NOTES |@RedFlashWBB

Flash Points:
  • Saint Francis opens the final road trip of the regular season at Bryant
  • The Bulldogs swept the Brooklyn schools last weekend to even their record at 7-7 in the NEC
  • SFU and Bryant have split the first 14 meetings all time between the school, but SFU has one just once at Bryant

SMITHFIELD, R.I.- Saint Francis heads out on the road for the final time in the regular season as they embark on the longest NEC trip of the season, opening at the Bryant Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon.

ABOUT THE FLASH
The Red Flash will look to snap their two-game losing streak that saw SFU fall to 10-4 in the NEC and a game behind Robert Morris and Sacred Heart for the top spot in the league. On Saturday, the Flash dropped a 66-58 decision to Mount St. Mary's after the Mount used a 9-0 run in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Cold shooting did in the Flash in part on Saturday, shooting just 4-30 from three in the setback. Things did not improve on Monday as the Red Flash went 9-49 in a 87-71 loss to Wagner. The Seahawks overcame 31 turnovers by shooting 53 percent from the field as they joined South Florida as the only teams to shoot better than 50 percent from the field against SFU. The loss marked the first time this conference season the Red Flash have lost consecutive games. One bright spot was the return of Ace Harrison (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor (Maryland)) on Monday night. After missing Saturday's game, Harrison nearly had a triple double with 25 points 16 rebounds and 8 steals. She leads the NEC at just over nine rebounds per game. Saint Francis will need that rebounding as they take on the leading rebounding team in the NEC in Bryant. Their +5.5 rebound differential is one of the best in the NEC and they ripped down 52 rebounds and were +15 against SFU the last time the two teams played.

ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
After wins over LIU and SFBK, Bryant sits at 7-7, and in a tie for fifth place in the NEC. Leading the Bulldogs is Alex Klein, who is averaging 15.1 points and 8 rebounds per game, marks that are good for fourth and third in the NEC, respectfully. Bryant has struggled from three, shooting under 30 percent from deep in 16 of 24 games so far this season and are shooting 26 percent as a team. Bryant also has struggled taking care of the basketball, averaging nearly 20 turnovers per contest. That said, the Bulldogs have good size and take high-percentage shots as they shot 37 percent overall from the field in spite of their three-point struggles. Bryant will also look to get to the line, where they are shooting an NEC best 76 percent. They also sport a defense that is holding teams to 61 points per game and 38 percent shooting, good for second and third in the NEC, respectfully.

THE LAST TIME...
Saint Francis used a 15-0 second-quarter run to take control of a back-and-forth game in a 79-67 win over the Bulldogs on January 23. The Flash used a balanced effort, placing six players in double figures and turned 24 Bryant turnovers into 31 points. The Bulldogs were led by Alex Klein who had a monster 24 point 13 rebound performance. The Flash were held to just 8-30 from three but limited Bryant to just 2-12 shooting from deep.

Bryant defeated SFU 84-72 last January when the teams last met in Rhode Island. Bryant has won five of the six meetings the teams have played in the Chase Center, with SFU's lone win to date coming in the 2013-14 season.
