NEW BRITAIN, CT- Saint Francis will look to snap a three-game losing streak as they wrap up the regular season road slate at CCSU on Monday afternoon.
ABOUT THE RED FLASH
Saint Francis is in the midst of a three-game slide for the first time this NEC season. SFU dropped a 85-70 decision at Bryant on Saturday to fall to 10-5 in the NEC. Bryant ripped off a 34-10 run in the first half on the back of hot three-point shooting. The Bulldogs hit 11-23 from deep after coming into the contest shooting 26 percent as a team. Saint Francis would get the game back to single digits on three different occasions but timely runs from Bryant prevented a comeback. The Flash were led by
Jessica Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg)'s 23 points, leading three players in double figures. While Bryant was hot from three, the Red Flash remained cold for the third-straight game. SFU was just 4-22 (18%) from deep and has hit only 17 of their last 101 over three games.Â
ABOUT CCSU
The Blue Devils were even colder than the Red Flash on Saturday, shooting just 22 percent for the game and 1-17 from three in a 62-39 loss to Robert Morris. Kianna Patterson and Aleah Epps lead a balanced scoring attack that has four players scoring at least eight points per game. Epps and Patterson lead the team at over 11 points per game each. Giocelis Reynoso is a force on the block, leading CCSU at over eight rebounds per game. She had 20 rebounds and 5 blocks the last time these teams met in January. The Red Flash will have to watch for Andi Lydon, she had 29 points on seven threes the last meeting and hits on a team best 36 percent of her threes. Like the Red Flash, CCSU has also lost their last three and sits at 8-7 in the NEC, in a three-way tie for fourth place.Â
Historically, the Red Flash have had some success in New Britain, winning nine of the previous 16 meetings, but CCSU has won the last two in Connecticut. SFU last won in Detrick Gym in 2013-14, a 106-97 overtime thriller.
