LORETTO, PA- Saint Francis will head to California for an eight-game Spring Break trip starting with a pair of Sunday matches as part of the Tina Finali Invite hosted by Cal Lutheran.Â
ABOUT THE RED FLASH
Saint Francis comes into the matches at 4-4 on the young season. The Red Flash went 2-3 last weekend defeating Grove City College and Siena while falling to George Washington, VMI and Gannon. SFU did collect some hardware for the second-straight week with
Kate Wilke (Burbank, Calif./Burroughs)Â earning Defensive Player of the Week honors and
Kelly Fehr (Erie, Pa/Villa Maria Academy)Â earning Rookie of the Week honors. Wilke posted 57 saves across the five matches, recorded three steals and had an assist. For the season, the freshman goalie sports a 8.50 goals against average and a .541 save percentage. Fehr stuffed the stat sheet to the tune of 14 goals, 16 points, 11 steals and 10 ejections drawn. Fehr is now second on the team with 21 goals, behind only
Emily Wickenheiser (Mechanicsburg, Pa/Cumberland Valley), who leads the NCAA with 33 strikes through eight matches.Â
ABOUT OCCIDENTAL
The Tigers come into the weekend at 0-5 on the season and will play three matches prior to Saint Francis on Sunday afternoon. The teams do share a common opponent, with Occidental falling to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 10-2 while the Red Flash defeated the Athenas 10-7 as part of the Bucknell Invitational. Carly Zurcher is their leading scorer but Oxy has not scored more than four goals per game while allowing nearly 16 goals per game.Â
ABOUT CAL LUTHERAN
The Regals are 1-2 on the season with a victory over the University of Toronto. SFU will be the Regals fourth match of the Tina Finali Invitational. They lost their top three leading scorers from a team that went 13-19 last year. The leading returner is sophomore Nicole Roed who scored 30 goals last season.  Bailey Meyer is the returner in goal, she saw time in six matches last season.  Through three matches, the Regals are allowing just over 10 goals per game.  Prior to Sunday night's match the two teams will have two common opponents as CLU will be taking on Siena and St. Francis Brooklyn as part of the invite.Â
