La Verne, CA- The Saint Francis Red Flash continue their Spring Break swing through California with the LaVerne Leopards on Tuesday at 2 p.m. eastern.Â
ABOUT THE RED FLASH
The Red Flash split their two matches on Sunday at the Tina Finali Invite, defeating Occidental 9-4 and falling to the host California Lutheran 10-4.
Kate Wilke (Burbank, Calif./Burroughs) had a strong day in net, stopping 19 shots across the two matches including a stellar 11 save in 15 shot performance in the win over the Tigers. The freshman also recorded eight steals including five against Oxy. The offense was paced by the freshmen duo of
Kelly Fehr (Erie, Pa/Villa Maria Academy) and
Emily Wickenheiser (Mechanicsburg, Pa/Cumberland Valley). Fehr netted 5 goals and an assist in the two matches while Wickenheiser added four goals and two helpers. Defensively,
Missy McCreary (Altadena, CA/LaSalle (Citrus College)) led the way with eight steals and an ejection drawn on Sunday. All told, the Red Flash sit at 5-5 on the season as they head into their first of two true road matches this week.Â
ABOUT THE LEOPARDS
LaVerne sits at 1-1 on the season, defeating the University of Toronto 11-5 and falling to Cal State-Monterey Bay 14-9. Stephanie Rosero is the player to watch for the Leopards, she scored on all five of her shots against Toronto and added four more tallies against Cal State. They have struggled defensively with four different players playing in goal, collectively they have made one save on 20 on-goal shots faced. They are coming off a very strong season that saw them go 18-6 overall and reach the SCIACÂ finals where they lost to Whittier.Â
