LONG BEACH, CA- The Saint Francis University Red Flash will face their toughest test of their California trip when they take on the #15 49ers from Long Beach State University tonight at 10 pm eastern.
ABOUT THE RED FLASH
The Red Flash look to snap a two-game losing streak against the 49ers. They dropped a 17-11 decision to D-III #3 LaVerne on Tuesday afternoon.
Kelly Fehr (Erie, Pa/Villa Maria Academy) led the offense with her second hat trick in three matches.
Emily Wickenheiser (Mechanicsburg, Pa/Cumberland Valley) had four goals and now has 41 on the season, good for second in the NCAA. Saint Francis scored on four power-play opportunities but had no answer for the Leopards' power-play attack. LaVerne cashed in on seven of 11 opportunities. LaVerne also out shot SFU 29-18 in the match.
ABOUT THE 49ers
Long Beach comes into tonight's match at 6-6 on the season and ranked 15th in the latest top-25. Each one of their six losses has come to an opponent ranked inside the top 10 and have a win over #10 San Jose State so far this season. Alexandra Massier leads the offense with 20 goals and is coming off a four-game weekend where she led the 49ers with eight goals. Eirini Patras is the starter in goal and holds a 9.02 goals against average through 12 games this season.
