ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Saint Francis men's volleyball team fell to No. 7 Lewis in straight sets on Saturday at Neil Carey Arena. Lewis won 25-19, 25-14, 25-18.

Saint Francis drops to 9-14, while Lewis improves to 19-6 on the season.

Stephen Braswell (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) and Jeff Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa./Northern Cambria) finished with eight kills. Adam Kniffen (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) led the team with a block, 11 assists and six digs. Ryan Coenen led Lewis with 12 kills.

Lewis jumped out to an early 10-4 lead in the opening set and forced Saint Francis to call a timeout. The Flyers started to run away with the set but the Flash went on a 6-1 to cut the deficit to five, 20-15, and caused Lewis to burn a timeout. Lewis continued to pressure Saint Francis and took the opening set 25-19.

Tied at 4-4 in the second set, Lewis went on a 4-0 run to lead, 8-4. A Nick Bennett (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) kill trimmed the Lewis lead to two, 10-8. A 5-2 Lewis run proved to be the difference maker, as the Flyers started to pull away, leading 15-10. Lewis cruised to a 25-14 win.

With the set tied at 5-5, SFU took advantage of three Lewis miscues and a kill from Daniel Ford (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) to take an early 9-5 lead. Both teams traded points before the Flyers took an 18-15 advantage. Lewis eventually ran away with the set 25-18.

Saint Francis resumes conference play this weekend against NJIT and Princeton.
