Red Flash Set For Trio of CWPA Games

LORETTO, PA- Saint Francis gets conference play resumed this weekend with a trio of games hosted by Bucknell.
 
This weekend the Red Flash will take on a trio of ranked opponents in #10 Princeton, #7 Michigan and #25 Bucknell.

ABOUT THE RED FLASH
 
The Red Flash come into the weekend 0-1 in Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) play after dropping a 9-7 decision at George Washington as a part of the George Washington Mini. The Red Flash are led in scoring by Emily Wickenheiser (Mechanicsburg, Pa/Cumberland Valley), whose 73 goals are top-3 in the NCAA heading into conference play, the freshman is also sporting a shooting percentage about 50 percent, tops on the team. Kelly Fehr (Erie, Pa/Villa Maria Academy) is having a strong season in her own right, her 48 goals are second on the team and she is running a streak of seven games with at least two goals. Defensively, Aimee Baur (North Wales, Pa/North Penn) has at least three steals in four of her last five games, including seven over the two matches at the Red Flash Mini. In goal, Kate Wilke (Burbank, Calif./Burroughs) has 181 saves to date, one of the top marks in the NCAA and sporting a strong save percentage of just over 50 percent on the season.
 
ABOUT THE TIGERS
Number-10 Princeton is first up this weekend for the Red Flash with the two teams squaring off at 11 A.M. on Saturday. The Tigers come into the weekend at 16-2 and 1-0 in CWPA play, having defeated Harvard. Headlining the Tigers is Ashleigh Johnson, the senior goalkeeper is back for the Tigers after taking the 2016 season off to help lead the United States to Olympic Gold as their starting keeper. The senior has a 15-1 record on the season and a sterling .770 save percentage. The Tigers also bring a balanced offensive attack to Bucknell. Princeton has four players with at least 20 goals, led by Haley Wan's 38, she had four goals in Princeton's 7-2 vs #15 Long Beach State. Princeton sports nine victories over ranked opponents this season.
 
ABOUT THE WOLVERINES
Michigan and the Red Flash will face off at 5:30 on Saturday evening and come into the weekend at 18-8 overall and 1-0 in CWPA play after beating Indiana last weekend. Michigan is 15-8 overall this season against ranked opponents and will face George Washington earlier on Saturday prior to the match with the Red Flash. Six Wolverines have over 30 goals so far this season for Michigan. Caroline Anderson is third on the team with 36 goals, and leads the way with 92 points thanks to a team-best 56 helpers. In goal, freshman Heidi Ritner has 25 of the 26 starts in goal and has a .568 save percentage and a strong 6.92 goals against average.
 
ABOUT THE BISON
 
Bucknell comes into the weekend at 11-11 overall and 0-1 in CWPA play having lost to Harwick 9-6 back on February 25th. Nine of their 11 losses have come against ranked opponents. Emily Konishi leads the team with 60 points and is third on the team with 28 goals. The Bison also sport a balanced offense with four players having between 28 and 31 goals on the year. Bucknell has had three players in goal so far, this season with Manuela Herrera getting 19 of their 22 starts. She has played to a .440 save percentage and an 8.05 goals against average.

LOOKING AHEAD
Saint Francis is off next weekend before heading to Brown for their final CWPA weekend of the regular season on April 14. The Red Flash will take on Hartwick and Indiana on Friday before facing Harvard and host Brown on Saturday.
