SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Saint Francis Softball team picked up two mercy-rule wins in a sweep over Bryant on Saturday.  The Red Flash earned a 9-0 six-inning win in game one, highlighted by Ethel Santai (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove Area)'s No-Hitter.  In the second game, SFU won 8-0 in five innings behind three homers, including two by Jordan Seneca (Plum, Pa./Plum).

Saint Francis, led by Head Coach Jennifer Patrick-Swift, improved to 37-9 overall and 10-0 in the NEC with its ninth and 10th straight wins.  The Red Flash extended its program record for wins and its best NEC start in program history.  SFU has won 25 of its last 26 games.  Bryant is now 10-33 overall and 5-7 in the NEC.

The Red Flash has won 13 straight regular season NEC games dating back to the 2016 season.

In game one, Santai fired her second No-Hitter of the season.  Santai went all six innings, without allowing a hit.  Santai allowed just four baserunners the whole game, walking two batters and hitting two batters.  The senior threw a five-inning perfect game against East Carolina on March 18.

Santai's No-Hitter today was Saint Francis' fourth this season.  In addition to Santai's two No-Hitters, senior Ketarah DeVries (Forreston, Ill./Forreston) threw a seven-inning No-Hitter against East Carolina on February 17 and freshman Abby Trahan (Kaplan, La./Kaplan) threw a six-inning No-Hitter against Cleveland State on February 19.

Santai also threw her eighth complete game this year and tallied her fourth complete game shutout.

A Bryant double with two outs in the top of the fourth of game two ended a streak of 30 consecutive batters retired by DeVries, dating back to last Saturday's complete-game shutout at Mount St. Mary's, where she retired 19 straight batters to finish the game.

With two home runs in game two, Seneca brought her season total up to 18 homers, tying her own SFU season record set last season.  Seneca is just one home run behind the NEC single-season record, set by Mount St. Mary's Rachel Heinze last year.

Seneca had her second multi-home run game of the season and the third of her career.  This season, she hit two grand slams at Texas Tech on March 17.  She also hit two home runs, including a grand slam, at Arizona State on February 27, 2016.

Sophomore Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) scored two runs in the second game to raise her season run total to 56.  That broke a tie for the SFU season record, set by Sierra McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) last season.

The Red Flash concludes its NEC road schedule on Sunday at Central Connecticut State.  A doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m.

First Game
Senior Ethel Santai (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove Area) faced just 22 batters in a six-inning No-Hitter.  She struck out five batters, while walking two batters.  Santai allowed three batters to reach in the first inning, on two walks and a hit batter.  The senior gave up just one baserunner over the final five innings, retiring nine straight batters to end the game.  She also had a stretch where she retired seven straight hitters.  Santai improved to 14-1 this season.

Freshman Gabrielle Ermish started in the circle for the Bulldogs.  She went 5.2 innings, allowing nine runs on nine hits.  Ermish struck out three batters and walked five.  Ermish is now 8-7 this year.

Sophomore Sierra McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) had two hits and two runs, including a three-run homer, to lead the Red Flash offense.  Sophomore Hayley Norton (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) tallied two hits and two RBI, while junior Jordan Seneca (Plum, Pa./Plum) had a double and two RBI.  Senior Kindra Witthus (Hudson, Wis./Hudson) went two-for-two with a double and drove in a run, while freshman Halle Marion (Middletown, Pa./Middletown) added a run and an RBI.

The Red Flash took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second.  Junior Madison Cabell (Ivor, Va./Southampton) drew a walk to lead off the inning, with S. McKee following with a single to left.  After a 5-3 double play turned by Bryant, sophomore Kassidy Troxell (Navarre, Ohio/Perry) drew a walk with McKee going to third on a wild pitch.  Marion then lined a hard single to center to drive in McKee from third.

Witthus followed with a fly ball single to left, which allowed Troxell to come home from second.  After sophomore Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) was hit by a pitch, Seneca drew a bases loaded walk to allow Marion to cross the plate.

Saint Francis exploded for six runs in the top of the sixth to blow the game open.  Troxell led off the inning with a walk.  Two batters later, Witthus was hit by a pitch.  After a popout, Seneca lined a double to left-center to drive in pinch-runner Kelsie Marconi (Lowber, Pa./Yough).

Norton followed by lining a single to center to plate Witthus and Seneca.  Cabell then drew a walk to set up runners on first and second for S. McKee, who promptly unloaded the bases with a three-run homer to right-center.  It was McKee's third homer of the year.

Second Game
Senior Ketarah DeVries (Forreston, Ill./Forreston) retired the first 11 batters of the game as part of four shutout innings.  DeVries allowed just one hit, while striking out five and walking none.  DeVries improved to 10-5 this season.  Freshman Abby Trahan (Kaplan, La./Kaplan) entered the game in the fifth inning, striking out two batters and allowing a hit.

Sophomore Colby Norris started for the Bulldogs, going two innings.  Norris allowed five runs on seven hits and striking out one batter.  Logan Paul threw two innings, giving up three runs on three hits and two walks, while striking out two.  Brandi Burgin threw one inning, striking out two and allowing one hit.

Jordan Seneca (Plum, Pa./Plum) went three-for-three with two home runs and drove in three runs.  Madison Cabell (Ivor, Va./Southampton) added three RBI, including a two-run homer.  Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) had two hits, driving in two runs and scoring a pair of runs.

Sophomore Kaleigh Goulart and senior Lauren Keast had Bryant's two hits in the game, each with a double.

The Red Flash got on the board in the top of the first.  C. McKee led off the inning with a single up the middle.  Seneca then lined a single to right to put runners on first and third.  Two batters later, Cabell hit a sacrifice fly to right to allow McKee to score from third.

Saint Francis added four runs in the top of the second.  Sophomore Mikayla Bower (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) began the inning with a base hit to center.  Marion followed with an infield single before Witthus reached on a single to shortstop to load the bases.  C. McKee then singled up the middle to drive in Bower and Marion.  After Witthus was caught stealing at third, Seneca launched a fly ball over the center field wall for a two-run homer.  Saint Francis led 5-0 after the top of the second.

The Red Flash got three more runs, on two home runs, in the top of the fifth.  Seneca led off the inning with her second homer of the game, again putting one over the wall in center.  Sophomore Hayley Norton (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) followed with a single to left.  Cabell then launched a fly ball over the fence in right center to extend SFU's lead to 8-0.
