Water Polo Set for CWPA Tournament at Indiana

Bloomington, Ind.-The Saint Francis Red Flash water polo team is the ninth seed entering the 2017 Collegiate Water Polo Association Championship this weekend hosted by Indiana University.
 
The Red Flash will take on eighth-seeded George Washington in the opening match of the CWPA tournament on Friday at noon for the right to play the top-seeded Michigan Wolverines at six on Friday night. Michigan earned a first-round bye as regular-season champion. Should the Red Flash lose against George Washington, they would play the loser of the Indiana/Harvard match on Saturday afternoon at 1:30.
 
Friday will mark the third match-up between the Colonials of GW and the Red Flash. GW has won two tightly contested games, 10-7 in the Red Flash home opener and 9-7 at GW to start CWPA play. The Colonials are led by the 1-2 punch of Scarlett Hallahan and Jackie Bywater who have scored 59 and 48 goals, respectfully.
 
The Red Flash are led by their own 1-2 punch of Emily Wickenheiser (Mechanicsburg, Pa/Cumberland Valley) and Kelly Fehr (Erie, Pa/Villa Maria Academy). Wickenheiser leads the team with 90 goals and 110 points on the year while fellow freshman Fehr is second on the team with 61 tallies and 72 points, Fehr also leads the team with 57 ejections drawn.
 
In goal, Katherine Moeller got the start for the Colonials the last time the two teams played as she has been a part of a time share with Samantha Runyon. Moeller has a 44 percent save percentage on the year to go along with 27 steals. For the Red Flash, Kate Wilke (Burbank, Calif./Burroughs) has gotten all 29 starts in net. She holds a .457 save percentage and a 10.24 goals against average.
 
The CWPA is providing live stats for all of the matches and providing pay-per-view video for the tournament. The tournament is charging $10 dollars per game or $25 dollars for the entire tournament. Links can be found on the water polo schedule page.
