BLOOMINGTON, IND.- Kelly Fehr (Erie, Pa/Villa Maria Academy) scored twice, giving her six goals in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) tournament to date but the Red Flash fell 22-2 at the hands of top-ranked and #7 Michigan in the CWPA quarterfinals.
Fehr scored twice,
Aimee Baur (North Wales, Pa/North Penn)Â had an assist and
Shelby Sanko (McAdoo, PA/Hazelton Area)Â had two steals to lead the Red Flash.
Kate Wilke (Burbank, Calif./Burroughs)Â added four saves and a steal in the Friday nightcap.
The Wolverines struck early in the match, scoring three times in the opening three minutes of the game. Fehr would answer with her first of two tallies midway through the quarter to stop the run, but the seventh-seeded Wolverines kept on the attack and would lead 6-1 after the first quarter. In the second, the Red Flash defense made a stop on the Wolverines' opening possession but couldn't corral the rebound on the blocked shot as the Wolverines made it 7-1. Wilke would make three more saves in the quarter, but again, the relentless Wolverine attack made it 13-1 at the half.Â
After two more tallies from Michigan at the start of the second half, the Red Flash drew an offensive foul and Fehr was able to power home a
Aimee Baur (North Wales, Pa/North Penn) pass to round out the SFU scoring.
