Saint Francis, Bucknell to meet Wednesday

The Saint Francis women's soccer team (3-5-1) plays its final non-conference match of the season on Wednesday, Sep. 20, at Bucknell at 7 p.m.
 
Scouting Bucknell
 
The Bison have rebounded well from an 0-4 start, winning three of its last four games to enter Wednesday evening with a 3-5 record. The Bison defense has been excellent over the stretch, allowing two goals over the last 366 minutes. Senior defender and All-Patriot League performer Meghan Holtz leads the team in goals (2), assists (3) and points (7). Freshman Brianna Kropinack is tied for the team lead in goals with two.
 
Series History
 
Bucknell owns the slight edge in what has been a competitive series, with an 8-6-2 all-time record. The Bison escaped Loretto with a 1-0 win last season, scoring with just 42 seconds remaining in regulation.
 
SFU Wins Two of Three Weekly Awards

Junior Sara Suler (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) was named the NEC Player of the Week and senior Siobhan Bross (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) was named the Defensive Player of the Week after SFU recorded a 1-0-1 record in its two games last week. Suler recorded two goals and an assist while Bross helped keep Radford, who entered the match with the fourth-ranked scoring offense, off the score sheet.
 
Hitting Stride
 
Sophomore Alyssa McGhee (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle)'s will enter Wednesday with a three-game goal streak. After being held without a point for the first three games of the season, McGhee has gone on to record 12 points over her last six contests, being held scoreless only once.
 
Peaking Towards Conference
 
The Red Flash seem to be playing its best soccer as conference play approaches. SFU was outscored 12-1 over its first three matches, but has since outscored its opponents 13-9, despite being outscored 5-0 by No. 15 Georgetown.
 
Grinding out a Road Win
 
The Red Flash will vie for just its second road win of the season in eight tries when it heads to Lewisburg Wednesday night. Saint Francis has looked unbeatable on its home pitch, outscoring its opponents 7-0 in two matches.
