ABOUT THE RED FLASH

The Red Flash are coming off an impressive opening NEC weekend that saw SFU go 2-0 with wins at Sacred Heart and Fairleigh Dickinson. Jessica Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg)Ā earned the Conference Player of the Week after averaging over 27 points/3 rebounds/3 assists in the two games while hitting 10-18 from three-point range. While KovatchĀ took home the honors, the Red Flash had incredible balance last weekend. SFU got 65 points off the bench in the two games combined and placed five players in double figures in the win against the Knights. The defense locked down their opponents as well, holding the teams to a combined 33 percent from the field and an average of 52 points. They will look to slow down a Terrier offense that led the NEC in three-point shooting through the non-conference. Jade Johnson leads the team with nearly three triples per game and does so on nearly 46 percent shooting from deep. The Red Flash also forced 49 turnovers last weekend and will look to continue to use their pressure to turnover a SFBK team that has averaged nearly 18 turnovers a game so far this season.Ā

ABOUT THE TERRIERS

Saint Francis-Brooklyn comes into the match-up at 4-8 overall and 0-1 in the NEC. They dropped a heartbreaker 61-59 at borough rival LIU last Friday in their only game of the weekend. Alex Delaney and Jade Johnson led the way with 15 and 12, respectfully with all of their baskets coming from three-point range. Delaney was 5-11 while Johnson was 4-7 and 12 of the 21 made baskets from SFBKĀ were from three in the game. Brooklyn is a strong rebounding team, they were second in defensive rebounding and tops in rebounding percentage in the non-con. Lorraine Hickman had a team-high seven rebounds against LIU. Offensively, Amy O'Neill runs the offense and leads the NEC with nearly 5 assists per game. The Terriers also like to grind the game down, averaging just 58 shots per game, compared to 73 per game for the Red Flash. SFU will once again look to push the pace and tempo on Saturday.Ā
