Moon Township, PA- The Saint Francis men's soccer team (9-4-3, 5-1-2 NEC) falls in its final regular-season match to Robert Morris (6-10-1, 4-4-0 NEC) 1-0 on Friday.
Turning Point
Saint Francis controlled a large portion of the game and was outshooting RMU 6-3 leading up to the goal. Robert Morris Owen Pierce answered on a forward pass from mid field which directed him to an open slot to give Robert Morris a 1-0.
Highlights
- SFU best chance came early in the first half. Senior Mario Mastrangleo tried to find some space in the box in the 10th minute but lost his footing as his shot rolled weakly to the hands of Robert Morris goalie Winter Fondi.
- Sophomore Christian Kirchhoff (Aarhaus, Denmark) had two go's at the goal in the 23rd and 31st minute as both shots were blocked.
- Robert Morris came inches away from scoring another goal in 53rd minutes but were turned away by a diving save from Freshman Alex Morgret (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey).
- Saint Francis generated a few opportunities in the second half but couldn't find a goal. The closest chance was generated from junior Kevin Smolyn (Holland, Pa./Germantown Academy) but he couldn't connect as his shot was saved.
Inside the box
- Saint Francis was outshot 13-12 for the match.
- Shots on goal were even at 5-5.
- Both teams earned three corner kicks each.
Notes
- With the loss, Saint Francis will be the No. 2 seed in next weekend's NEC Tournament hosted by top-seeded LIU Brooklyn. It marks the ninth time in program history the Red Flash will compete in the postseason.

- Kevin Smolyn (Holland, Pa./Germantown Academy) finished with two shots on goal
- Morgret made two saves in the loss.
- The Red Flash could get another crack at the Colonials in the NEC Tournament depending on the outcome of the other games this weekend.
