SFU to Play at No. 4 Baylor Thursday

Waco, Texas – The Saint Francis women's basketball team faces another tall task on Thursday as it travels to play at AP Preseason No. 4 Baylor. This will be the first ever meeting between the two schools.

Scouting Baylor
The Lady Bears advanced to a 10th straight NCAA Sweet 16 last season and held a 33-2 overall record. Baylor finished the regular season ranked second in the country behind only UCONN, which defeated Saint Francis in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

The nation's fourth-ranked team is off to a red hot start in the 2018-19 season. Seven players scored in double-figures as the Lady Bears got out to a 24-0 lead in the first eight minutes and rolled over Nicholls, 100-39, in Tuesday's season-opener.

Baylor is led by All-American bigs Kalani Brown and Lauren Cox as the lanky Lady Bears have seven players who are 6-0 or taller. Sophomore guards Moon Ursin and DiDi Richards led the team with career-highs in scoring in Tuesday's opener.

Head Coach Kim Mulkey is in her 19th season as head coach and has attained 540 career victories. She ranks No. 2 among the winningest active Division I head coaches in winning percentage (.846). She is No. 3 all-time by percentage between two mentors, second-ranked Leon Barmore (.869) and Pat Summitt (.841).

Kovatch on the Brink
Despite a slow shooting performance in Tuesday's defeat at Rutgers, senior Jess Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) needs only one point to pass Alli Williams and move into sole possession of second place on the all-time scoring list at Saint Francis. She needs 169 points to pass Jess Zinoble for first-place in school history.

Williams Stepping into New Role
Graduate transfer Aunesha Williams (Miami, FL/McEachern High School (Morgan State via Gardner-Webb)) appears to be making a seamless transition to the Red Flash offense. Williams had 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor and 1-of-3 from behind the three-point arc. She will be relied on heavily to combat Baylor's size on the interior.

From Big Ten to Big 12
It's a brutal three-day stretch for Saint Francis as the Red Flash move on from facing a Big Ten opponent in Rutgers to Big 12 power Baylor. It's the first time SFU has faced a Big 12 member since playing at West Virginia on Dec. 29, 2014.
