 Scouting Morgan State

The Bears hung tough with No. 9 Villanova in Tuesday's opener, a 100-77 loss. Morgan State shot 46.5% from the field and was led in scoring by freshman Isaiah Burke's 17 points. Stanley Davis added 14 points and freshman Sherwyn Devonish-Prince chipped in with 13. The Bears were sparked by 45 points by the bench but were undone by a 45-30 rebounding discrepancy.

 Braxton Eyeing 1,000

Junior Keith Braxton (Glassboro, N.J./Delsea) led Saint Francis with 19 points in SFU's opening night loss at Buffalo to pull within five of 1,000 for his career. SFU's career leader in double-doubles with 24, he has scored in double figures in 53 of 66 career games.

 Impressive Debut

Freshman Myles Thompson (Camden, N.J./Camden) made an immediate impact in his debut with 16 points on 4-of-11 shooting and 2-of-3 three-point range. His 16 were points were the most by an SFU freshman in a debut since Will Felder netted 17 in a win over American to open the 2009-10 season. Thompson also secured five rebounds in 31 minutes of action.

The Bigs Come Up Big

SFU's forward rotation of senior Luidgy Laporal (Petit-Boutg, France/Harcum C.C.), junior Deivydas Kuzavas (Kretinga, Lithuania/St. Mary's Ryken (Md.)), sophomore Mark Flagg (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) and freshman Precious Ikediashi (Hoboken, N.J./Hudson Catholic) combined for 16 points and 22 rebounds against a big Buffalo opponent Tuesday night. With limited depth at the guard position, head coach Rob Krimmel had to rely on a big lineup and the quartet stepped up. Kuzavas finished with eight points on 4-of-4 shooting and Flagg pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds in just 16 minutes.
