Red Flash host Morehead State on Wednesday

Loretto, Pa. - Saint Francis women's basketball (2-8) returns home following a road trip to Seattle for a Wednesday night contest with Morehead State. Fans are encouraged to wear Ugly Christmas Sweaters to the game. Tip time at DeGol Arena is set for 6 p.m.

Scouting Morehead State

Morehead State is 8-3 on the season and was picked to finish fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Eagles faced another NEC opponent this season in St. Francis Brooklyn on Nov. 18 when the Terriers defeated MSU, 101-94. Morehead State's only other losses this season came to No. 25 Kentucky (87-57) and No. 3 Baylor (96-58). The Eagles are led by Preseason All-OVC member Miranda Crockett, who paces the team with 19.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.

Kovatch breaks the Saint Francis and NEC scoring record

Jess Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) became the all-time leading scorer in Saint Francis and NEC history with 2,345 career points in the Red Flash's game against Montana. The Phillipsburg, N.J. native broke Jess Zinobile's 18 year-old record of 2,338 career points. Kovatch leads the NEC this season and ranks tied for fourth in the country with 4.0 three-pointers per game. Her 389 career three-pointers are first among active NCAA competitors and an NEC record.

A furious fourth quarter Red Flash rally

Saint Francis trailed by 20 points with less than seven minutes to go on Sunday against Montana. A Kovatch trey sparked a 19-2 Red Flash run over the next five minutes as two Haley Thomas (Hooversville, PA/Bishop McCort) free throws capped off the surge and trimmed the Grizzlies' lead to 74-71 with two minutes remaining. Kovatch's three-point attempt at the buzzer was off the mark as the Red Flash rally came up just short in a 79-77 defeat.

Saint Francis looks to break four game skid

The Red Flash hope to snap a four game losing streak dating back to a Dec. 5 defeat to Florida Gulf Coast. SFU dropped a road contest to Youngstown State on Dec. 8 before falling to Boise State and Montana this past weekend at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash.
