LORETTO, PA- Saint Francis welcomes in Sacred Heart and Fairleigh Dickinson this weekend for their annual Think Pink! weekend, the Red Flash will be wearing their special Think Pink! jerseys for Breast Cancer Awareness month.
ABOUT THE RED FLASH
The Red Flash are the winners of their last seven games and currently own a one-game lead in the Northeast Conference standings at 11-1 and 16-8 overall. The Red Flash swept its way through Brooklyn with a 94-71 win over St. Francis Brooklyn and a 85-54 win over LIU Brooklyn. It was a collective offensive effort with the Red Flash putting four in double figures against the Terriers and three against LIU. On Saturday, the Red Flash wore down the Terriers, out scoring them 40-17 over the final 14 minutes after the Terriers tied the game at 54. SFU forced 25 turnovers which turned into 24 Red Flash points. SFU was also efficient offensively, shooting 50 percent from the field in the win. On Monday, SFU shot lights out, shooting 55 percent from the field including 83 percent in the third quarter. The Flash dished out 21 assists and forced 23 turnovers in the win.
Caitlyn Kroll (Bridgeport, Ohio/Bridgeport) led the balanced offensive charge, winning both the Player and Rookie of the Week in the NEC after averaging 18 points 5.5 rebounds 4 assists and 3.5 steals. Kroll joins
Jessica Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) as Red Flash players who have claimed the NEC Player of the Week. SFU has now won at least a share of that award each of the seven weeks of NEC play.
ABOUT THE PIONEERS
The Pioneers come into Loretto winners of their last two, defeating Wagner and Mount St. Mary's last weekend, moving to 5-8 in NEC play and 9-15 overall. The Pioneers are led in scoring by Candice Leatherwood, who averaged 14 points and nearly 4 assists a night. Sacred Heart has a balanced offense with four players averaging in double figures. Katherine Haines is averaging a near double-double with 13 points and 9 rebounds a night. The Pioneers have ratcheted up the defense over their last two games, holding Wagner to 49 and Mount St. Mary's to 44. However, the Pioneers have struggled shooting this season, shooting just 35 percent in NEC play and 37 percent overall. The Red Flash held them to 24 percent shooting in a 89-48 win over SHU back in the NEC opener for both teams.
ABOUT THE KNIGHTS
The Knights come into the weekend losers of their last two, falling to Central Connecticut and Mount St. Mary's to drop to 6-6 in NEC play and 14-9 overall. Amina Markovic leads the team in scoring at just under 13 points a night and grabbing seven boards a night. Markovic had 14 points and 8 rebounds in the first meeting between the teams. Madelynn Comly is the only other Knight in double figures, averaging 11 points a night and shooting nearly 40 percent from three. Comly and Kamrin Weimer each shoot better than 35 percent from deep on the season. The Knights have struggled with turnovers, averaging 17 a game, SFU turned them over 27 times, leading to 28 points in SFU's 80-56 win on New Year's Eve. The Red Flash wore down FDU, out scoring them 44-24 in the second half.

LOOKING AHEAD
Saint Francis hit the road next weekend for their longest trip of the NEC season, traveling to CCSU and Bryant. The Blue Devils are up first next Saturday with a 1 p.m. tip time scheduled from New Britain.
