Scouting LIU Brooklyn

The Blackbirds are one of the hottest team in the conference with three consecutive wins thanks to the play of current NEC Player of the Week Joel Hernandez. The senior swingman averaged 31.0 points in LIU Brooklyn's wins over Sacred Heart and Bryant and is second in the league in scoring at 20.2 ppg. Saint Francis boasts the league's top scoring offense at 79.2 ppg but the Blackbirds aren't far behind at 77.0 ppg. Raiquan Clark (16.9 ppg) and Jashaun Agosto (11.5 ppg) are also averaging double figures in scoring. The Red Flash and Blackbirds ranks 2nd and 3rd respectively in scoring margin.

Series History

Saint Francis won the first meeting this season 85-68 on Jan. 4. Saint Francis trailed 35-33 at the half before outscoring the Blackbirds by 19 over the final 20 minutes. Junior Jamaal King (Salisbury, Md./Bishop O'Connell (Va.)) scored 23 and junior Andre Wolford (Willowick, Ohio/Saint Ignatius) added 20.

Scouting St. Francis Brooklyn

The Terriers are a guard-ladened team that puts relentless pressure on opposing guards. The trio of Rasheem Dunn (14.7 ppg), Glenn Sanabria (12.2 ppg) and Jalen Jordan (11.1 ppg) lead the team in scoring. Sanabria (42.2%) and Jordan (40.7%) are the sharpshooters from three-point range while Dunn excels at attacking the rim. The Red Flash and Terriers engaged in a shootout earlier this season with the Red Flash, prevailing 91-87. The Terriers' 87 points were its most vs. a Division I opponent this season.

Series History

Saint Francis has won three in a row vs. the Terriers and is 43-36 all-time vs. the Brooklyn-based school. King and sophomore Keith Braxton (Glassboro, N.J./The Lawrenceville School) combined for 54 points (27 each) in SFU's win on Jan. 6.

CvC 3-PT CHALLENGE

Making 3-point shots this basketball season has taken on additional meaning for Coach Krimmel and the Saint Francis University basketball team. The Red Flash are using their spotlight on the court to raise money for the American Cancer Society as a part of the national Coaches vs. Cancer 3-Point Challenge. Fans can join Saint Francis University's PLEDGE IT campaign and donate for every 3-pointer by visiting: pledgeit.org/cvc18-saint-francis/pledge. Fans can follow the competition on the national leaderboard at 3pointchallenge.org.

FLAGG NAMED ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Freshman Mark Flagg (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury)'s best week of his young career netted him his first NEC Rookie of the Week on Monday. The 6'9" forward averaged 12.0 ppg and 8.5 rpg in his two starts, recording his first career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds in a nationally-televised win over Fairleigh Dickinson.

SHAKING OFF THE RUST

Saint Francis will look to regain its shooting stroke in Brooklyn as it is coming off its second-worst shooting percentage of the season and its worst since its second game of the year at San Francisco on Nov. 13. The Red Flash scored a season-low 56 points at Mount St. Mary's on Saturday, shooting 37.5% from the field and making just 4-22 (18.5%) of its three-point tries.

REBOUNDING IMPROVEMENT

Flagg's insertion into the starting lineup has improved Saint Francis's rebounding numbers. Saint Francis was outrebounded in eight of its first 10 conference games but outrebounded Fairleigh Dickinson (+3) last Thursday and Mount St. Mary's (+2) on Saturday.
