SFU NOTES (MOUNT)
LORETTO, PA- Saint Francis wraps up the regular season this weekend with a trip to Mount Saint Mary's and senior day against the Wagner Seahawks.
ABOUT THE RED FLASH
Saint Francis is coming into the weekend still tied atop the NEC regular season standings with Robert Morris at 14-2 overall. The Red Flash embarked on their longest road trip of the conference season last week and came out with two tough wins over Central Connecticut and Bryant. On Saturday, the Red Flash overcame a slow start to close the game on a 22-6 run to win 85-75. The Red Flash had great balance with four starters in double figures and
Karson Swogger (Bellwood, PA/Bellwood-Antis) coming off the bench with eight points. That depth allowed the fourth quarter run to happen as SFU out scored the Blue Devils 29-11 in the final quarter.
On Monday, the Red Flash scored 41 points off 24 Bryant turnovers and put all five starters in double figures in a 94-78 triumph over Bryant on ESPN3. The Red Flash doled out 25 assists against just five turnovers themselves, the second-lowest total in program history and lowest since a March 2014 game against Wagner.
Courtney Zezza (Plum, Pa./Plum) posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds to go along with six blocks.
Ace Harrison (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor (Maryland)) knocked on the door of a triple double with 13 points 8 rebounds and 7 assists. But the player of the game was
Caitlyn Kroll (Bridgeport, Ohio/Bridgeport) who went for 23 points 6 assists and three steals on 8-12 shooting. The Red Flash had 15 steals against CCSU and 18 against Bryant and now sit fourth overall in the NCAA in steals per game at 13.0.
ABOUT THE MOUNT
The Mount comes into the game at 6-10 in the NEC and in a three-way tie for seventh place in the NEC. The Mountaineers took the Red Flash to overtime before the Red Flash prevailed 92-88 in the extra frame. Mount has tremendous balance offensively with four players averaging in double figures and a fifth averaging just a tick under 10 points a game. The Flash will have to watch for freshman Daly Sullivan, who shoots over 35 percent from three and hit six triples in the first meeting this season. Juliette Lawless averages seven rebounds and nearly four assists a night, leading the team in both categories.
ABOUT WAGNER
Wagner comes into the weekend at 4-12 in the NEC and still alive for a berth in the NEC playoffs. The Red Flash and Wagner went down to the wire in Staten Island earlier this year with the Red Flash pulling out a 79-76 win. Wagner erased a 18-point deficit before the Red Flash were able to salt the game away at the foul line. Saint Francis will have to contend with Sierra Clark, the graduate transfer averages nearly 19 points per game for a team that averages less than 60 a night. She had a monster game of 30 points and 17 rebounds when the teams met the first time around. The Flash will also look to close the rebounding battle that Wagner won 42-33 and held a 21-12 edge in second-chance points.
SENIOR NIGHT
The Red Flash will be honoring seniors
Ace Harrison (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor (Maryland)),
Cydney Smith (Port Tobacco, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) and
Maya Wynn (Reisterstown, Md./McDonogh) in a pre-game ceremony on Sunday afternoon.
