STORRS, CT- The Red Flash set a NCAA tournament record with 57 threes attempted and
Haley Thomas (Hooversville, PA/Bishop McCort) added a career high as Saint Francis closed their season with a 140-52 opening round loss to the #1 Connecticut Huskies in the NCAA tournament.

"We wanted to play our style of basketball and we did that today," head Coach
Joe Haigh said.
 "The final score aside, we knew we wanted to take a million threes and compete our hearts out, we did that today and I couldn't be prouder of our team and our players."

Haley Thomas (Hooversville, PA/Bishop McCort) set a career-high with a team-high 12 points, cashing in on four threes for the Red Flash.
Caitlyn Kroll (Bridgeport, Ohio/Bridgeport) added 11 for the Red Flash, who closed the season at 24-10, the second-most wins in school history.

The Red Flash came out firing with a
Courtney Zezza (Plum, Pa./Plum) three two minutes into the game tying the game at five. UCONN responded with a 30-5 run and would never look back.

That said, Saint Francis set a season high for threes in a half against the Huskies, draining eight first-half triples.
Ace Harrison (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor (Maryland)) added a pair of blocks for the Red Flash and grabbed a team-high six rebounds. The Red Flash continued the trend of being a good offensive rebounding team, grabbing 10 offensive boards and seven second-chance points against one of the top rebounding teams in the nation.

Jessica Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) finished with nine points two assists and a team-high two steals. The NEC Player of the Year closes the year with a current NCAA-best 141 made threes, which would be a NCAA record.

Saint Francis went down playing their style of basketball, and "that's all I could ever ask for," added Haigh. The Red Flash end the season at 24-10 while UCONN improves to 33-0 and will advance to play the winner of Quinnipiac and Miami (FL) on Monday.
