Loretto Pa.- The Saint Francis men's volleyball team travels to Lindewood University on Friday before heading over to McKendree University on Saturday.
Saint Francis, led by head coach
Mike Rumbaugh, enters the weekend with a 8-11 overall record and is fifth in the EIVA with a 3-4 record after dropping a four set match against Princeton before bouncing back to take down NJIT in four sets.
Stephen Braswell (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) and
Brandon Buck (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) paced the offense with 66 total kills on the weekend.
Joseph Koszelak (North Tonawanda, N.Y./St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute) led the defense with 25 total digs as
Keith Kegerreis (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) chipped in with 7 blocks.
Conference Leaders
Stephen Braswell (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) and
Ryan Alu (Pipersville, PA/Central Bucks West HS) both lead the conference in total kills and total digs. Braswell has 204 total kills as Alu has 147 digs on the season.
Brandon Buck (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) follows Braswell in kills with 197.
About the Lions
The Lindewood Lions enters the weekend with a 6-9 overall record and a 1-6 MIVA conference record. Â Last weekend, the Lions dropped two conference matches both in five sets to Fort Wayne and Ball State. Sophomore outside hitter Michael Jennings leads the Bearcats with 116 kills and a 3.14 kills per set. Senior libero Ryan Vorderer leads the team and conference with 156 digs and a 2.98 digs per set. Sam Scindler is the man in the middle as he has 54 total blocks on the season.
About the Bearcats
McKendree holds a 6-10 overall record while sitting sixth in the MIVA with a 3-5 record coming into the weekend. The Bearcats fell to Ohio State both nights, losing the first match in 4 sets then falling the next night in 3 sets.
Nolan Rueter leads the Bearcats with 144 kills while averaging 2.44 kills per set. He also leads the team in total assists with 386. On the defensive side, Zach Thompson leads the team and sits fifth in the conference with 126 digs as Brendan Schmidt leads the Bearcats with 61 total blocks.
