Loretto, Pa.-
The Saint Francis men's soccer team (3-2) travels to Morgantown, WV for a non-conference showdown with West Virginia (2-3) on Saturday Sept. 15 at 7 p.m.

Scouting West Virginia
West Virginia enters Saturday's match with a 2-3 overall record after dropping its last two matches against Central Florida and Maryland by one goal.  The Mountaineers are led by junior midfielder Ethan Shim, who has recorded three goals on seven shot attempts good for a .429 shot percentage. Junior defender Pascal Derwaritsch follows with two goals on a .286 shot percentage. Sophomore goalkeeper Steven Tekesky is on top of the Mid-Atlantic Conference leader board posting 25 saves in five games.

Series History
Saint Francis is 4-6-1 vs. West Virginia, the Red Flash dropped the last matchup 3-2 in 2015. Former Red Flash players Francis de Vries (Christchurch, New Zealand/Cashmere) and Andre Vega each scored a goal in the loss.

Stepping Up
Senior Mario Mastrangelo (Venetia, Pa/Peters Township) has led the team in goals with three, but the Red Flash are not a one-man team as a few other players have been contributing. Sophomore midfielder Leonardo Ribeiro (Florence, Italy/Liceo Linguistico "G Pascoli") has attempted 10 shots so far this season while knocking in his first goal of the season on Wednesday. Sophomore Kevin Smolyn (Holland, Pa./Germantown Academy) has come alive in the last two games posting his first goal of his career against NJIT. Freshman Alex Morgret (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) stepped up big time in Wednesday's win as he had four key saves in the second half that held Duquesne scoreless.

Gaining Momentum
The Red Flash look to continue their momentum from Wednesday. Head coach Frank Olszewski believes the team learned a little bit about themselves in the win, but the Flash will have to continue to fight collectively for every inch. Saturday's match up will be a true test prepping for conference play.
