The Red Flash clipped 3-1 at West Virginia

Morgantown, WV- The Saint Francis men's soccer team (3-3) fell 3-1 to West Virginia (3-3) on Saturday night in Morgantown, WV.  
 
Turning Point
West Virginia opened the scoring in the 36th minute. Rushawn Larmond converted the breakaway with a low shot to the left corner.
 
Highlights
  • A penalty kick by Joey Piatczyc doubled the Mountaineers lead in the 62nd minute.
  • A rebound and misplayed clear helped WVU extend its lead to 3-0.  
  • Sophomore Leonardo Ribeiro (Florence, Italy/Liceo Linguistico "G Pascoli") delivered a beautiful pass over the WVU players to set up a Gabriel Castro (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Lausanne Collegiate School) header to cut the lead to 3-1 in the 86th minute. 
 
Notes
  • Castro's header was his first goal of the season and the second of his career.
  • Freshman Alex Morgret (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) made two saves in defeat.
  • West Virginia outshot the Red Flash 10-3.
  • The match totaled 26 fouls between both teams.
  • Corner kicks were 5-1 in favor of the Mountaineers.
