Live Stats | Live Video

Loretto, Pa.
The Saint Francis women's soccer team (2-6-2) looks to start conference play with a bang on Saturday in its conference opener vs. LIU Brooklyn (2-6-2) at 1 p.m.

Scouting LIU Brooklyn

The Blackbirds come to Loretto after snapping a two-game losing streak on Wednesday with a 2-2 tie at Seton Hall. Marian Awad found the back of the net in the game and paces the team and ranks second in the NEC with six goals on the season. Despite being outshot 178-76 on the season, LIU has managed to stay competitive in most of its matches. Four of its matches have been decided by one goal or less.

Series History

Saint Francis is 15-9-2 all-time vs. the Blackbirds and unbeaten in the last six (5-0-1). The Red Flash defeated the Blackbirds in Brooklyn 5-0 last season.

September Blues

As the weather has turned dreary, so has the SFU offense. After scoring 11 goals in five August matches (2.2 goals per game), SFU has been held goalless in September, a stretch of five matches and 473 minutes.

Conference Success

Saint Francis has won four of the last eight NEC titles and is the reigning 2016 and 2017 NEC champion. SFU is 12-3-1 in conference matches since the start of the 2016 season, outscoring NEC opponents 36-11 during the streak.

Home Sweet Home

Saint Francis will be happy to be back at home where it is 2-1-1 this season and 15-5-2 since 2016. The Red Flash is 7-0-1 in home conference matches since 2016 and hasn't lost a home conference match since Oct. 30, 2015.
