Red Flash celebrate senior day with 3-0 win over Robert Morris; earn No. 1 seed in NEC Tournament

Loretto, Pa. – Saint Francis men's soccer (10-5-0, 7-2-0 NEC) defeated Robert Morris (4-11-2, 3-5-1 NEC) 3-0 on senior day to earn the No. 1 seed in the 2019 Northeast Conference Men's Soccer Championships. The Red Flash honored seniors Lucas Canineu (Corbin, Ky/Corbin), Renan Fuentes (Sao Paolo, Brazil/Colegio Joao XXIII), Jacob Gratzer (Olmsted Falls, OH/St. Edward's), Kyle Moerschbacher (State College, PA/State College), Gabe Quintero (Clarksville, MD/River Hill) and CJ Smolyn (Holland, PA/Germantown Academy) prior to the match.
 
Olszewski's Reaction
"It was a matter of keeping the momentum going," head coach Frank Olszewski said. "It was a senior day, so we knew there was a little bit of emotion going into that. The seniors that we have had in the program get another go around on their field, so that's great."

  • Lucas Rosa (Atibaia, Brazil/COC Atibaia) converted on a penalty kick to give the Red Flash a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute
  • Felix Tonne (Kolbotn, Norway) broke loose and sprinted past a defender to score a goal as SFU led 2-0 in the 68th minute
  • Saint Francis used a Robert Morris own goal off a Gabe Quintero (Clarksville, MD/River Hill) corner to put the Red Flash ahead 3-0 in the 87th minute

Top-seeded Saint Francis will host fourth-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson in the NEC Tournament semifinals on Friday, Nov. 15. Second-seeded LIU will face third-seeded Bryant in the other semifinal at Stokes Soccerplex. The winners will square off in the NEC Championship on Nov. 17 on the campus of Saint Francis.
