Red Flash force fourth set before falling to Bryant

Loretto, Pa. – Sophomore Nicole Adams (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa East) recorded 13 kills and 17 digs, while sophomore Madi Tyus (Plano, TX/Bishop Lynch) added 11 kills and 11 digs, but the Red Flash (3-21, 3-9 NEC) fell to Bryant (15-14, 10-3 NEC) in four sets, 12-25, 18-25, 25-22, 16-25 on Saturday at DeGol Arena.

Saint Francis used a spirited third set rally to surge past the Bulldogs and force a fourth set. Bryant led 13-11 when Tyus' kill sparked a Red Flash run with four straight points to take a 15-13 advantage. The Bulldogs fought back to seize a 21-20 lead before SFU won four of the final five points to seize set three and cut the lead to 2-1.

After a Bryant wire-to-wire win in the opening set, Saint Francis responded in the start of the second set to hold a 5-4 lead following an Alexa Mamone (Beaver, PA/Beaver Area) kill. The teams battled back-and-forth to tie the match 14-14 before a 6-0 Bulldogs run put the visitors ahead 20-14. SFU pulled within four at 22-18, but Bryant closed the set with three straight points to take a 2-0 set lead.

The Bulldogs opened the fourth set with a commanding 10-0 lead before the Red Flash rallied to trim the margin to 16-12. Bryant led 24-16 until back-to-back Adams kills made it 24-18. The Bulldogs then sealed the match on a kill to secure the victory.
