Saint Francis can't pull upset in 80-65 loss at Florida State

Coach Krimmel Full Quotes

Tallahassee, Fla. -
Sophomore Myles Thompson (Camden, N.J./Camden) scored a career-high 23 points on 9-12 shooting but didn't have enough help in an 80-65 loss at Florida State on Saturday.

Krimmel's Reaction

"It was a good experience for us to come down here to warm weather and play a really good Florida State team," said head coach Rob Krimmel. "I thought we did some really good things today and some not so good things. We are still trying to find our rhythm and put it all together but we took a step in the right direction in some areas today."

Turning Point

The Red Flash trailed 9-6 at the first media timeout before the Seminoles proceeded to go on a 13-0 run and open a 22-6 lead with 10:58 left in the first half. Saint Francis outscored the Seminoles 59-58 over the final 30+ minutes and cut it to nine at 52-43 on a three-pointer by redshirt senior Scott Meredith (Pilot Mountain, N.C./Hargrave Military Academy (Va.)) with 17:20 left in the game. Thompson led the Red Flash charge with 17 first half points, knocking down six of seven shots and  all four of his three-point attempts.

A two-shot jump shot from redshirt sophomore Tyler Stewart (Silver Spring, Md./St. Andrew's Episcopal) made it 61-50 with 11:53 remaining but Florida State answered with a 10-0 run to extend its lead to 71-50.
