Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

CCSU sinks Red Flash in four

Loretto, Pa. - For the second consecutive night the Saint Francis women's volleyball team (3-23, 3-11 NEC) won the opening set  but the CCSU Blue Devils  (12-13, 8-5) took the next three sets to win 25-22, 12-25, 13-25, 19-25.

Saint Francis, celebrating its lone senior in middle blocker Cecilia Esposito (Coraopolis, Pa./Montour), came out hot. Sophomore Keara McGraw (Austin, TX/James Bowie) was at the center of the action with eight kills in the first set alone.

The Red Flash led 19-11 before CCSU rattled off six straight points. The young Saint Francis team kept its poise with McGraw ending the run with a kill. The Blue Devils pulled within one at 22-21 but sophomore Nicole Adams (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa East) followed with two kills and McGraw one to win the set 25-22.

CCSU took control of the match over the second and third sets with wins of 25-12 and 25-13.

The Red Flash were pesky in the fourth set, coming back from a 17-11 deficit to make it 19-17 on a McGraw kill. A kill from sophomore Madi Tyus (Plano, TX/Bishop Lynch) made the score 22-19 before the Blue Devils won the next three.
