SFU hosts Bucknell Saturday to close non-conference slate

Loretto, Pa. – Saint Francis women's basketball (2-8) concludes non-conference play hosting Bucknell (6-3) on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 2 p.m.
 
Scouting Bucknell
The Bison are riding a four-game winning streak and are coming off a 60-49 victory over Drexel on Dec. 8. Bucknell has had the past two weeks off for exams. The Bison have several impressive wins so far this season over Monmouth, St. Bonaventure, Howard, Cincinnati and George Mason. The team's only losses came on the road to Virginia and Quinnipiac and at home to Temple. Bucknell is averaging 64.3 points per game, while allowing 59.7 ppg. Ellie Mack paces the team in scoring and rebounding with 13.9 ppg and 7.0 rpg.
 
Series History
Bucknell leads the all-time series history 12-7. The last meeting between the teams came on Nov. 14, 2012 when the Red Flash defeated the Bison 62-54 in Lewisburg, Pa. SFU also won the most recent meeting at DeGol Arena in a 70-53 victory over Bucknell on Nov. 27, 2011.
 
Swogger and Thomas lighting it up from behind the arc
Saint Francis juniors Karson Swogger (Bellwood, PA/Bellwood-Antis) and Haley Thomas (Hooversville, PA/Bishop McCort) were on fire from three-point range against Liberty on Wednesday night. The duo connected on 10 trifectas as Swogger was 5-of-6 from behind the arc, while Thomas shot 5-of-9 from three-point range. Swogger knocked down three consecutive triples to open the third quarter and finished with 16 points. Thomas had a season-high 19 points.
 
Carroll makes first career start
Senior Caitlin Carroll (Middletown, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) made her first career start for the Red Flash on Wednesday against Liberty. The team's only four-year senior broke into the starting lineup in her 64th career game.
 
Red Flash look to close non-conference play strong
Saint Francis hopes to pick up a non-conference win over Bucknell to reach three wins in a difficult out-of-conference slate. SFU looks to match last season's mark of three non-conference victories.
