Loretto, Pa.- The Saint Francis water polo team opens the season at the Brown Invite this weekend drawing La Salle, No. 16 Wagner, Saint Francis Brooklyn, and California Lutheran.
Scouting La Salle
La Salle went 0-18 last seaso with Jillian DeLisle led the Explorers with 35 goals. La Salle enters the 2019 season with Tom Hyham in his first year at the helm. Last year, the Red Flash met the Explorers in the pool and defeated them 14-10 and lead the all-time series, 1-0. This is the first of three scheduled matchups with La Salle in 2019.
Scouting Wagner
Wagner dominated the competition in 2018 posting a 25-7 record and winning the MAAC for the fifth straight season. The Seahawks enter the weekend ranked 16th in the CWPA Poll. Wagner is 1-3 on the season after playing in the UCSB Winter Invite beating #15 California San Diego and losing a trio of contests to Azusa Pacific, California Irvine, and California Santa Barbara. Erica Hardy leads the attack for Wagner with nine points. The long time NEC rivals meet for the first time in water polo.
Scouting Saint Francis Brooklyn
The Terriers' season also begins at the Brown Invite. Saint Francis Brooklyn enters 2019 looking to improve on their 5-19 record from last year and to avenge their 15-14 defeat to the Red Flash. The all-time series is tied 1-1.
Scouting California Lutheran
The Regals open their season at the Brown Invite. CLU went 21-9 last season and narrowly defeated the Red Flash in a 7-6 thriller. The Regals enter the weekend ranked second in the Division III lists. Head coach Craig Rond enters his 16th second as the only headmaster in California Lutheran history with an all-time record of 212-233. The Red Flash are 0-2 all-time against the Regals.
