Red Flash Resume EIVA Slate With Two Home Games With Sacred Heart and Harvard

Loretto, Pa.- The Saint Francis men's volleyball team (6-5, 0-1 EIVA) will try to gain some momentum in conference play as the Red Flash welcomes in Sacred Heart (1-5, 0-1 EIVA) on Friday and Harvard (1-6, 1-0 EIVA) on Saturday.

About the Pioneers
Sacred Heart is 1-5 overall and 0-1 in EIVA play, with the Pioneers' only win coming over St. Joseph's. The losses came to UC San Diego, Stevens Tech, Harvard, Ball State, and Purdue Fort Wayne. The Pioneers are coming off a week of rest, after losing its last match against Ball State, 1-3. In the loss, redshirt senior Emerson Wauman led the troops with 16 kills on a .299 hitting percentage while senior Noah Riccetti and junior Timothy McIntosh led the defense with 10 digs apiece. 
 
As it currently stands, Wauman is leading the team with 75 kills on a 3.57 kills per set, and the primary setter Noah Ricchetti is pacing the offense with 180 assists with 8.85 assists per set. McIntosh commands the defense with 36 digs on a 2.77 digs per set while junior Rob Chatterton controls the middle with 25 blocks.
 
Series History
SFU sits ahead in the all-time series over Sacred Heart, 18-4 with a 1-1 record last season.  In the last matchup, the Pioneers edged the Red Flash 3-0 on its own court.
 
About the Crimsons
Harvard will begin the weekend 1-6, coming off a week of rest following two hard fought losses against Ball State and Purdue Fort Wayne. The Crimson won its only match against EIVA rival Sacred Heart after dropping its first six matches of the season. In its recent losses against Ball State and Purdue Fort Wayne, sophomore Griffin Schmit led the team with 28 total kills on a .320 hitting percentage while junior Matthew Ctvrtlik managed the offense with 88 assists on a 9.77 assist per set.
 
Overall, junior Erik Johnsson, who averages 2.13 kills per set, leads the team with 64 kills on 189 total attacks. Schmit follows closely behind at 2.86 kills per set and 63 kills. The Crimson's setter, Matthew Ctvrtlik leads the team in assists, attack percentage, aces and digs.
 
Series History
Saint Francis trails Harvard 10-11 in the all-time series, dropping the last matchup 3-1 on the road a season ago.
 
Fisher Earns Second Off The Block Player of the Night
Redshirt Junior outside hitter Michael Fisher (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley (Pepperdine)) was named the Off The Block Player of the Night for the second time this season and in his career after finishing with 49 kills, .494 hitting percentage, and 4.45 kills per set last weekend. Fisher currently ranks first in the EIVA in kills (178) and second in kills per set (4.68).
 
Gaining Momentum
The Red Flash will start fresh this weekend, despite dropping two of three matches in its last time out. With conference play beginning, SFU has its eyes on improving from 2018's 4-10 conference record and is craving the chance to make a run at the EIVA championship.
 
Conference Breakdown
As it stands, the Red Flash sit in sixth place behind NJIT (5th), Harvard (4th), Penn State (3rd), Princeton (2nd), and George Mason (1st).  George Mason holds the top spot with an 8-2 overall record and 2-0 conference record. Princeton and Penn State follow behind the Patriots as the Tigers sits 4-7 with a 2-0 EIVA record and Nittany Lions rests at 4-6 and 1-0 in conference play.
