Loretto, Pa.- The Saint Francis men's volleyball team continues EIVA conference play on the road when it travels to Charleston and George Mason this weekend, Feb. 22 and 24. Both matches are slated to start at 7 p.m.

About the Patriots
No. 13 George Mason (8-3, 3-1 EIVA) dropped its first conference match of the year on Saturday, February 16, at Princeton, in four close sets.  Hayden Wagner tabbed 11 kills and five digs while Jack Reese contributed with seven kills. George Mason returned three All-EIVA winners to the 2019 roster, including two first team selections in Wagner and Kyle Barnes.
Redshirt sophomore Jack Reese received All-EIVA Second Team selection, ranked first on the team in blocks (72) and blocks per set of 0.96. The Patriots finished the 2018 season with a 17-12 overall record. Mason's 13-1 conference record led the Patriots to its first ever regular season EIVA championship.

So far this season, Wagner is leading the team with 193 kills on a 4.49 kills per set, and the primary setter Justin Coleman is pacing the offense with 258 assists with 8.60 assists per set. McIntosh commands the defense with 69 digs on a 2.16 digs per set while junior Rob Chatterton controls the middle with 46 blocks.
 
Series History
George Mason owns a 39-15 lead in the series with the Red Flash. The Patriots won the last meeting between the two schools in straight sets, on April 6, 2018.
 
About the Golden Eagles
The Golden Eagles come into the weekend 4-9 overall and 0-4 during EIVA play. Last weekend, Charleston won its only match, defeating Queens University in straight sets. Trista Santoyo led the way in the win with 10 kills on a .250 hitting percentage.   The Golden Eagles are under the direction of new head coach Mike Landolo, who served on GCU's coaching staff last season before accepting the head coaching duties at Charleston. Five of Charleston's nine losses have been to top-15 opponents. Maarten Bartles leads the team in kills with 101 and is sixth in the EIVA while Max Senica's 59 digs are good for sixth in the conference.
 
Series History
Saint Francis holds a slight, 5-2, lead in the all-time series with the Golden Eagles. Charleston took home a 3-1 victory last time the schools met on April 7, 2018.
 
Team Leaders
Michael Fisher (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley (Pepperdine)) leads the team with 178 total kills followed by redshirt junior Patrick Bryan (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) with 131. Senior Cole Thompson (Los Alamitos, Calif./Los Alamitos) is inching closer to triple digits with 94 recorded kills. Setter BJ Blair (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater Raritan) is the main source of assists for the Red Flash with 468 recorded on the season thus far. Bryan has 17 service aces on the season leading the Red Flash. Defensive efforts are controlled by libero Gabe Woffindin (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) who has 89 total digs. Blair, Thompson, Bryan, and Fisher round out the rest of the defense, Blair with 70 digs, Thompson with 54, Bryan with 47, and Fisher with 44. The Red Flash have a strong presence defensively at the net with middle hitter Cole Carver (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) leading the team with 42 total blocks. Middle hitter Hayden Herc (Eden, N.Y./Eden) is close behind with 41 blocks, Blair and Fisher are next in line as Blair contributed with 26 and Fisher added 23.
