Charleston, WV- The Saint Francis men's volleyball team earned its second win in conference play with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-22) win over Charleston Friday evening at Wehrle Arena.Â

Saint Francis improved to 8-6 overall and 2-2 in EIVA play with the win. Charleston fell to 4-10 and 0-4 in the conference.

How It Happened
Â
First Set
- Saint Francis took an early lead in the first set at 8-3 after a Michael Fisher (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley (Pepperdine)) kill.
- Charleston managed to pull back within as close as two, but three attack errors and one service error by the Golden Eagles gave the Red Flash a 16-11 lead.
- Three straight attack errors swung the momentum to the Golden Eagles at 16-14 and forced SFU to a timeout.
- Following the timeout, the Red Flash regained its energy to take a five-point lead at 21-16 before Charleston rallied back within two at 22-20 following three straight kills.
- Both teams would keep things close as a service error would help the Red Flash close out the set.
- Set Score: SFU 25, UC 23; SFU leads 1-0
Third Set
- Saint Francis took the initial advantage in the third set and racked up a four-point edge after a Christian Graziano (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) kill and an error by UC to lead 7-3.
- A kill by Evan Feltz (Westerville, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) put SFU up 13-7 and forced a Charleston timeout.
- SFU kept a comfortable cushion until the Golden Eagles shifted the momentum and held three set points to pull the score to the 24-22. Â
- Fisher would clinch the set following a perfectly set pass from BJ Blair (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater Raritan).
- Set Score: SFU 25, UC 22; SFU wins 3-0
Game Notes
- Fisher lead the team with 17 kills, marking the eighth straight game he has knocked down double-digit kills.
- Feltz added eight kills and three digs in his third start at outside hitter.
- Blair had 29 assists and Ryan Alu (Pipersville, PA/Central Bucks West ) had a team-high ten digs.
- Charleston had 19 kills to Saint Francis's 32 and out hit the Golden Eagles .203 to -.014.
