LORETTO, Pa.- The Saint Francis water polo team plays the first two matches of the yearly jaunt to California as the Red Flash faces La Verne and Azusa Pacific in a doubleheader.
Scouting La Verne
The Leopards have started their season with a 2-5 record. La Verne went 2-2 at the Convergence Tournament defeating McKendree and Grove City and losing to Villanova and VMI. La Verne and Saint Francis have played two common opponents in VMI and McKendree. Jassmine Kezman, the leading scorer from 2018, returns to lead the Leopards' pounce. La Verne is led by former SFU head coach Pat Beamer. The Red Flash defeated La Verne last year 12-8 and are 1-1 all-time against the Leopards.
Scouting Azusa Pacific
Azusa Pacific enters the game 11-9 against an ambitious schedule filled with nationally ranked squads. In their biggest win, the Cougars picked off No. 14 Wagner 7-5 at the UC Santa Barbara Invitational. Britni Tisdale returns to lead the Cougars' attack. The sophomore attacker scored 33 goals last season. Mireia Tutusaus Alcaraz is the ideal utility player. Alcaraz, in 2018, scored 29 goals and supplied 28 assists. Head coach Julie Snodgrass enters her eighth season at the helm of Azusa Pacific. This is the first ever matchup between the Red Flash and Cougars.
