Northridge, Calif.- The Red Flash water polo team (6-13) fell to the nationally ranked Matadors of California State, Northridge by the score of 12-3 Wednesday afternoon. Saint Francis was outscored 9-0 after the first period ended in a 3-3 deadlock.
Game Recap
- The Red Flash struck first when senior Ani Aghakhanian (La Crescenta, Calif/La Valley College) scored on a penalty goal.
- Freshman phenom Breanna Dupperon (Regina, Canada/Campbell Collegiate) added to the nascent lead with a strike.
- The Matadors stormed back with two goals to even the score.
- Dupperon added another multiple goal game to her collection with a perfect shot. Alas, it was the last lead and last goal of the game for Saint Francis.
- The Matadors tied it up before the first period ended.
- In the second period, CSUN proved why they are ranked in the polls.The Matadors used a suffocating defense and a timely offense to take a 8-3 lead.
- The SFU defense held CSUN to one tally in the third period but the Red Flash were unable to make offensive headway.
- CSUN added three, ultimately unnecessary, insurance goals in the fourth period to finalize the score at 12-3.

- The Red Flash drew seven exclusions.
- This was the first ever meeting between the two schools in the sport of water polo.
