Where the Bison Roam: Water Polo Travels to Bucknell for CWPA Matchups

LORETTO, Pa.- The Saint Francis water polo team (9-21, 0-3) concludes the 2019 regular season with three CWPA games at Bucknell University. The Red Flash duel host #18 Bucknell and George Washington on Saturday and Brown on Sunday. The Saturday matches are slated for 10 am and 3:30 pm. Sunday's singular contest is scheduled for 9 am.
 
Scouting Bucknell 
  • The Bison are 22-9 on the season and 3-0 in conference.
  • Bucknell is enjoying a renaissance season, as this is the first year since 2008 that the Bison have reached the 20-win plateau.
  • Ally Furano and Georgia Lewis won weekly CWPA awards for their role in defeating #14 Harvard.
  • Furano continues to terrorize in her sophomore campaign, the attacker has scored 108 goals and registered 46 assists.
  • Bucknell has made Kinney Natatorium a hot tub for opponents. The Bison are 10-2 in their 12 games in home waters.
  • SFU is 0-6 all-time against Bucknell including a 16-8 defeat at the George Washington Mini. 
Scouting George Washington
  • The Colonials are 5-10 on the season, and like SFU, are 0-3 in CWPA play.
  • Both GW and SFU have a small roster of 13 players.
  • Alana Ponce and Juliette Belanger are the only scorers with double digits goals. Ponce has scored 35 times and Belanger has punished the nets 30 times.
  • Ponce leads the way in assists with 12. No other Colonial has more than five assists.
  • Ponce and Jaleh Moaddeli are defensive forces with 27 and 34 steals respectively.
  • Saint Francis is 1-7 all-time against the Colonials. Earlier this season at the George Washington Mini, GW beat SFU 10-9 on a buzzer beater. 
Scouting Brown
  • The Bears are 16-11 this season but like GW, Brown is 0-3 in CWPA play.
  • Brown has already reached its 2018 mark for victories.
  • The Bears have several claws to scratch opponents having five players with 20+ goals.
  • Katie Klein leads the way in scoring with 45 goals.
  • Dagmara Czajka, Carissa Perez, and McKenna Miller are triple threat players. Czajka has 29 goals, 15 assists, and 39 steals. Perez has 21 goals, 41 assists, and 23 steals. Miller has 26 goals, 21 assists, and 39 steals.
  • Goalkeeper Lauren Burns has 139 saves.
  • Saint Francis is 0-3 all-time against Brown.
