Brooklyn, NY –The Saint Francis lacrosse team battled its way back to tie the game at seven leading into halftime but was outscored 5-3 by the Blackbirds to drop to 3-9 overall. Sophomore
Emileigh Scott (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) led the Red Flash with four goals and nine draw controls. Junior
Lauren Ryan (Fallston, Md./Notre Dame Prep) added three goals.
Turning Point
After LIU Brooklyn gained a 6-4 lead over Saint Francis,
Lauren Ryan (Fallston, Md./Notre Dame Prep) netted her third goal of the game to spark a 3-0 scoring run for the Red Flash. The scoring run allowed SFU to jump in front, but Rachel Masullo's responded for the Blackbirds and tied the game with 54 seconds remaining in the first half. After halftime, LIU put together a 3-0 scoring run of its own to take a 10-7 lead.
Morgan Day (New Park, Pa./Kennard Dale) ended the Blackbirds scoring run and cut the deficit to two, however, the Red Flash were unable to get closer than that as LIU closed out the game to pick up its second conference win of the season.
