LORETTO, Pa.- The Saint Francis water polo team enters the 2019 CWPA Championships as the seventh seed. The Red Flash are matched with the Princeton Tigers for a duel on Friday, April 26th at 1 pm. Princeton earned the number two seed. The CWPA Championships are held at Brown University.
Scouting Princeton
- The Tigers finished the season 19-8 overall and 5-1 in CWPA play.
- The sole conference defeat came at the hands of juggernaut #6 Michigan.
- Amy Castellano finished the season as leading scorer with 72 goals. She also contributed 37 assists.
- Three other Princeton players scored over 30+ goals.
- Marissa Webb completed the season with 194 saves.
- Princeton is 3-0 all-time against Saint Francis. The Tigers defeated the Red Flash 15-5 earlier this season.
Red Flash Records
Erin O'Neill (Landsdale, Pa/North Penn) set the school record in career steals with 74.
Ani Aghakhanian (La Crescenta, Calif/La Valley College) broke the program record for exclusions drawn.
The Schedule of Champions
If the Red Flash spring the Tiger trap on Princeton, SFU will play the winner of Bucknell-George Washington. If Saint Francis should fall, the Red Flash will meet the loser of Bucknell-George Washington. Either way, frequent foes: the Bison and Colonials await SFU.
CWPA History
The Red Flash are 1-6 all-time in the CWPA Championships. SFU won its first-ever CWPA Championship game 11-10 in 2017 with a buzzer beater goal against George Washington.
