Women's soccer falls at Colorado College

Colorado Springs, Colo. – Saint Francis women's soccer (1-1-1) struggled to keep up with Colorado College (3-0-0) in a 4-0 defeat on Sunday at Washburn Field.

The Tigers of the Mountain West conference scored 10 seconds into the game and didn't slow down from there. Jacqui Hand scored her second goal of the afternoon in the 11th minute to give Colorado College a 2-0 lead.

Kiley Suter put the Tigers ahead 3-0 in the 49th minute, while Toni Tsamasfyros gave Colorado College a 4-0 advantage in the 56th minute that would hold to be the match's final score.

Saint Francis redshirt senior goalkeeper Julia Hernan (Collegeville, Pa./The Hill School) recorded five saves, while senior Shaelyn Parry (Gibsonia Pa/Pine-Richland) stepped in the 61st minute and tallied two saves. The Red Flash had only five shots, two of which were on goal.

Senior forward Abigail Tarosky (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) had a scoring opportunity in the 14th minute, while sophomore forward Alex Martinez (Baltimore, Md./Maryvale Prep) had a shot on goal in the 49th minute. Both shots were saved by Colorado College goalie Abby Opperman.

Saint Francis returns to action for its home opener against Niagara on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 3 p.m.
