SFU set to host Buffalo Thursday

Loretto, Pa. – Saint Francis women's soccer (1-3-1) concludes a three game homestand with a match against Buffalo (1-2-1) on Thursday at 3 p.m.

Scouting Buffalo
The Bulls are 1-2-1 and are coming off a 2-2 tie against Albany on Sunday. Previously, Buffalo defeated Houston Baptist after opening the season with losses at Navy and St. Bonaventure. Senior forward Adrianna VanCuyck is an offensive leader for the Bulls with three points on a goal and an assist. Junior midfielder Marcy Barberic and sophomore midfielder Hannah Callaghan also have three points on a goal and an assist. Sophomore goalkeeper Emily Kelly has only allowed four goals through four matches and has seven saves.

Series History
Saint Francis is 3-4-1 in the all-time series history against Buffalo. The Bulls won the most recent meeting in a 3-0 win over the Red Flash last season on Sept. 9, 2018.

SFU looks to snap three match skid
Saint Francis has dropped its past three contests with a defeat at Colorado College followed by home losses to Niagara and Youngstown State. The last time SFU dropped three or more in a row was Sept. 6-16, 2018 when SFU lost four straight non-conference matches.

Suydam scores twice for Red Flash
Saint Francis junior midfielder Aubrey Suydam (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) scored two goals for the Red Flash last week. She scored on a penalty kick against Niagara in the 74th minute and had a brilliant strike off an Emilee Barnett (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) assist in the 10th minute to give SFU an early 1-0 lead over Youngstown State.

Spreading out the scoring
Six different players have scored for the Red Flash through the first five matches. Suydam and Mariana Jaleca (Sebtubal, Portugal) pace the team with two goals each. Barnett, Rhiallie Jessell (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock), Teresa Reid (Northeast, Md./Rising Sun) and Corinne Renninger (Bechtelsville, Pa./Boyertown) are the other goal scorers for SFU this season.
