Red Flash travel to FDU for Wednesday morning contest

Teaneck, N.J. – Saint Francis women's basketball (4-9, 2-0 NEC) continues conference play with a midweek game at Fairleigh Dickinson (4-9, 1-1 NEC) on Wednesday, Jan. 8. Tipoff on Education Day is set for 11 a.m. and the game can be seen on NEC Front Row.
 
Scouting Fairleigh Dickinson
The Knights struggled to start the season, losing seven straight games before picking up steam and winning four of the last six contests. FDU opened conference play with a 62-57 road win over St. Francis Brooklyn on Jan. 2 before falling at home to Bryant 57-45 this past Saturday. Fairleigh Dickinson is averaging 57.2 points per game, while allowing 63.4 ppg. Madison Stanley paces the team in scoring with 12.5 ppg, while Lauren Francillon is second in scoring and first in rebounding with 11.9 ppg and 7.7 rpg.
 
Series History
Saint Francis leads the all-time series history with Fairleigh Dickinson 44-22.  The Red Flash have won seven straight contests with the Knights, including a 77-65 victory in the most recent meeting on Feb. 16, 2019 in Teaneck, N.J.
 
Swogger stepping up to the challenge
Saint Francis junior Karson Swogger (Bellwood, PA/Bellwood-Antis) stepped up to help lead the Red Flash to two road wins over Bryant and CCSU. The Bellwood, Pa. native scored a game-high 25 points to lift SFU to a 63-60 win in the NEC opener at Bryant. She shot a stellar 9-of-16 from the floor and was a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line. In a 64-52 win at CCSU, Swogger scored 12 points for her fifth straight game in double figures. She shot 5-of-13 from the floor, while adding three rebounds and three assists.
 
Red Flash look to start NEC play 3-0
With a win over Fairleigh Dickinson, the Red Flash would start conference play with three straight wins for the third consecutive season. SFU began league play last season with a 3-0 record before suffering its first NEC loss. The Red Flash started 4-0 in the 2017-18 conference season.
 
SFU to face former assistant coach
Saint Francis will be facing off against an FDU team that features former Red Flash assistant coach Megan Cunningham on the staff. Cunningham spent the 2018-19 season on the sidelines for Saint Francis, helping guide the Red Flash to a conference tournament championship game appearance.
