SCOUTING THE DUKES
Duquesne opened the 2020-21 season at No. 20/22 Ohio State on Sunday, falling by an 82-47 margin in Columbus. Last season, the Dukes were 20-11 overall and 9-7 in Atlantic 10 games to earn the No. 6 seed in the conference tournament. Duquesne beat Rhode Island in the first round by a 70-53 margin before falling to the third-seeded Fordham team in the second round, 54-47. The Dukes were picked to tie for fourth in the conference in the preseason poll.

The Dukes return the top three scorers from the 2019-20 roster in senior guard Libby Bazelak, grad center Laia Sole and senior guard Amanda Kalin. Bazelak was named to the preseason all-conference first team and preseason all-defensive team after being the leading scorer for the Dukes with 13.2 points per game and the leading rebounder with 6.5 rebounds per game last season. Sole was named to the preseason all-conference second team after finishing the 2019-20 campaign second in DU scoring with 11.8 points per game. Kalin also averaged double figures last season with 10.2 points per game.

SERIES HISTORY
Saint Francis trails 10-31 in the all-time series against Duquesne. The Dukes own the last 10 games of the series, most recently beating the Red Flash in overtime by a 72-69 margin last season. SFU held a 48-42 lead going into the fourth quarter but DU put together runs of eight and nine in the final quarter to close the gap and tied the game on a trio of free throws with 17 seconds to play in regulation. Haley Thomas and Karson Swogger led the Red Flash in scoring with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Thomas and Dettwiller each had a team-high six rebounds.

LAST TIME OUT
Saint Francis fell in an in-state battle at Penn State on Monday by an 87-54 margin. This was the Red Flash's second Big 10 game to open the season. Saint Francis was within one point during the second quarter before Penn State ended the first half with a run that would put the game out of reach. Swogger led SFU's scoring with 13 points while Lili Benzel scored in double figures for the second-straight game with 11. Each had three three-pointers on the evening.
