SCOUTING THE GOLDEN FLASHES
Kent State enters Wednesday's contest at 0-1, losing to a ranked Ohio State team in Columbus, Ohio by a 103-47 margin. This is the Golden Flashes' second game of the season after having Saturday's conference tilt with Ohio postponed.

In 2019-20, Kent State finished with a 19-11 record and 11-7 mark in Mid-American Conference play. The Golden Flashes beat Buffalo by a 72-66 margin in the first round of the MAC Tournament before the season ended prematurely due to the pandemic. KSU was picked sixth in the preseason poll, among the league's 12 head coaches.

The Golden Flashes return three of the double-figure scorers from a season ago in sophomore forward Nila Blackford, sophomore guard Katie Shumate and junior forward Lindsey Thall. Blackford was second on the team in scoring with 12.4 points per game and led the roster with 8.0 rebounds per game. Shumate was third on the team in scoring, averaging 12.3 ppg, and second in rebounding, averaging 6.4 rpg. Thall averaged 11.4 ppg and ranked third in rebounding with 4.1 rpg but averaged more than two blocks per game as she totaled 63 blocks on the season.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the fourth all-time meeting between the Red Flash and the Golden Flashes. The most recent meeting was in November 2012. SFU won the game by an 81-67 margin as Alli Williams led the Red Flash with 26 points. Kent State won the first game of the series while Saint Francis won the next pair.

LAST TIME OUT
Saint Francis lost at La Salle on Saturday by a 76-68 margin. SFU led at halftime for the first time this season, but a 13-4 run in the fourth quarter by LAS gave the home team the victory. The Red Flash put together its strongest offensive showing in 2020-21, shooting 42 percent from the floor, and had four players reach double figures.
