Football’s Defense Prevails in 17-10 Victory at Duquesne

TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
Saint Francis head coach Chris Villarrial made the switch down 7-0 at halftime from quarterback Jyron Russell to Justin Sliwoski. He responded with a 36-yard completion to Brandon Lisenby that set up Marques DeShields' game-tying touchdown run.
 
Again down, 10-7, Sliwoski exploded for a 61-yard run to the Duquesne five-yard line. Summers capped off the drive with his seventh touchdown catch of the season as the Red Flash took a 14-10 lead and held on to win 17-10.

FLASH MOMENTS
Duquesne scored the game's only first half touchdown when Evan Nelson found Cyrus Holder for a 26-yard touchdown at 4:37 remaining in the first quarter. The Dukes held their 7-0 lead into halftime. Duquesne led the game with 99 total yards, while Saint Francis had 94.
 
In the second half, the Red Flash forced a three-and-out before Sliwoski took over at quarterback for Russell. On the ensuing drive, Sliwoski completed a 36-yard pass to Lisenby that set up a one-yard DeShields run that tied the game 7-7.
 
Duquesne regained the lead with a 39-yard field goal that made the score 10-7. Saint Francis responded with a 5-play, 75-yard drive in just one minute and 20 seconds that gave the Red Flash a 14-10 lead. Kahtero Summers capped off the drive with his conference-leading seventh touchdown after Sliwoski had a 61-yard run.

FLASH NUGGETS
The Red Flash defense held a Duquesne offense that averaged 320 yards per game to just 206 yards on 66 plays. They also allowed only three catches to Dukes' wide receivers.
 
Summers scored his seventh receiving touchdown of the season, now more than all other Saint Francis receivers combined (six).
 
Sliwoski had a 61-yard rush, the longest run of his collegiate career and second 60-plus yard rush by a Saint Francis quarterback this season.
