LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University Athletics has announced two community initiatives at upcoming basketball games. During the men's basketball season opener on Monday against Franciscan, fans who bring at least five canned/non-perishable goods will receive a free general admission ticket. In addition, during the men's basketball home game against Bucknell on Wednesday, December 1 and the women's basketball game against La Salle on Saturday, December 4, fans that donate a new or gently used toy will receive a half-priced general admission ticket.
The can food drive is apart of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) canned food drive competition among the 10 conference schools. The competition is only one of the charitable efforts organized annually by the NEC SAAC. All food collected by Saint Francis will be donated to the Dorothy Day Outreach Center right down the street from campus.
Saint Francis University will donate the toys it receives on December 1 and December 4 to Toys 4 Tots. The toys collected will be distributed to families in need in the area.
